ESSENCE OF LIFE

ESSENCE OF LIFE

ESSENCE OF LIFE

Sunday, March 22, 2020
2:00-5:00 pm
Southwestern Yacht Club

Join us for this heartwarming afternoon as we come together to improve the lives of San Diego seniors and their families.

SEE what YOU can do to help seniors live healthier and independent lives–aging with dignity in their own homes.

Essence of Life 2020 honors ElderHelp clients, volunteers and community partners who support our mission and demonstrate their commitment to this special population—reaching nearly 6,500 just last year.

Proceeds from the event serve seniors right here in San Diego—offering hope and security as they age with dignity in their homes. Through preventative and proactive services such as medical advocacy, friendly visits, daily phone calls, caregiver resources, and affordable housing options, ElderHelp offers solutions to seniors and their families and provides a reliable safety net of support. You can join our caring community by sponsoring the event, donating an auction item, working on the planning committee or all three! Please consider how you can make a difference in the lives of local senior citizens. Thank you!

NICOLE DARLING

AMBASSADOR

A childhood devoted to volunteerism and close relationship with her grandmother led Nicole to ElderHelp and dedication to serving seniors. Observing the need for senior advocacy, Nicole joined the Board, ascending to Board President, and is instrumental in building social awareness for the needs of seniors in our community.

CHRIS ROWAN

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Jumpstarting our Holiday Angels program over 15 years ago, Chris has also been a 15-year volunteer with our Home Safety team. He sees volunteering as the “perfect trifecta of good – good for the seniors, good for the soul to help seniors, and good for the ElderHelp mission.”

QUALCOMM, INC.

CORPORATE PARTNER

Qualcomm’s commitment to ElderHelp through corporate philanthropy and volunteer support encourages and inspires other businesses to do the same.  As a visionary leader in employee wellness, Qualcomm builds awareness and strengthens families as advocates for our Employed Family Caregiver program.

DEBORAH SZEKELY

INSPIRATIONAL SENIOR

Known as the “Godmother of Wellness,” Deborah’s spirit of philanthropy and commitment to healthy, active living has long inspired our community.  Opening Rancho La Puerta in 1940, Deborah introduced the concept that relaxing, reflecting, and renewing one’s spirit in nature helps re-direct to a longer-living life. She’s a member of the San Diego Women’s Hall of Fame and is the founder of the New American’s Museum in Liberty Station.

GARY & MARY WEST FOUNDATION

COMMUNITY PARTNER

As one of few foundations that focuses solely on the needs of seniors, Gary & Mary West support ElderHelp’s unique model of providing seniors with the personalized care and services they need to remain independent and live with dignity in their homes.   “Our missions overlap and intersect in so many ways.  We’re honored to be a part of your celebration.”

MARY LOU G.

CYNTHIA HANSEN MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

As ElderHelp’s Program Coordinator, Cynthia  had a gentle, yet direct approach to making sure seniors received the vital services they needed.  Honoring her memory, we’re recognizing Mary Lou, a Seniors A Go Go rider, who visits friends, plays bridge, and remains active, thanks to Cynthia’s kindness in answering her call three years ago.
