Meet our AmeriCorps VIP Fellow – Hannah Tackett

How does a gal from Little Rock wind up in San Diego? Ask ElderHelp’s AmeriCorps VIP fellow, Hannah Tackett, and she’ll tell you, “Before COVID hit, my partner and I moved to San Diego where he’s enrolled in grad school. When I learned of the AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Project, I was drawn to the commitment of community impact and immediately knew it would be a great fit for my passion. Mobilizing to help the community during these unprecedented times is exactly what I want to do.”

Hannah joined the ElderHelp team last month. With a focus on implementing best practices in volunteer recruitment and management, Hannah will spend the next 11 months working alongside our Outreach and Volunteer team to do just that. In fact, she’s already out and about compiling stories and videos (from a safe distance) to strengthen the experience of ElderHelp’s current volunteers and inspiring others to join them. Her goals include creating volunteer engagement opportunities that simultaneously meet the needs of clients, volunteers, and best safety practices during this pandemic. “I am interested in centralizing our platform to be as all-inclusive as possible for logging hours, trainings, signing up for opportunities, and staying connected to the larger volunteer community,” shares Hannah.

With Jewish Family Service as the San Diego hub, Hannah joins 11 colleagues in her cohort. This statewide program engages the next generation of leaders and inspires its members to live a life of community involvement beyond their year of service. We look forward to working with Hannah in the months ahead. Welcome to the team!

“I had a wonderful relationship with my grandmother. When she passed away, I looked for a place where I could keep making a difference. Being matched with Ginny gives me that opportunity.”
