Children of Aging Parents
ElderHelp understands that it can be difficult when a role reversal takes place and now you are the one helping to care for your aging parent or loved one. Most adult children of aging parents and family are trying to balance working full-time and raising a family, with taking their loved one to medical appointments, the grocery store and helping them in their home. It can be very stressful and difficult to manage without support. ElderHelp is here to help!
Avoid “caregiver burnout” and tell your loved one about ElderHelp. Our dedicated staff and compassionate volunteers are available to help decrease your load, so that the time spent with your loved one can be an enjoyable time together.
Important facts to know about ElderHelp:
- Seniors must make the initial call to begin services. Click here for more information.
- Program members must be able to self-advocate and maintain a schedule. (Currently, ElderHelp is unable to assist seniors with moderate to severe cognitive impairment).
- Seniors must be living in their own home or apartment.
- Services are offered to senior’s age 60+ living in Central and Eastern San Diego.
- Membership fees are based on factors such as: the senior’s annual income, if he/she is a renter or owner and the services requested.
