 Wells Fargo Donates $1,000 to ElderHelp of San Diego on behalf of Volunteer Service Award Winner

SAN DIEGO, August 5, 2009– Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) will contribute $1,000 to Elder Help of San Diego in Lisa Luiso’s honor to recognize the valuable contributions she has made to the organization, though its Volunteer Service Award program.   

“During these difficult economic times, it’s more important now than ever for companies and their team members to give back to their communities. Wells Fargo is proud to recognize our team members with the Volunteer Service Award for generously investing their time and energy in their communities.”  

  

Wells Fargo’s Volunteer Service Award Program, now in its 31st year, rewards team members for their volunteer efforts with contributions up to $50,000 from Wells Fargo to the nonprofit or K-12 school where they volunteer. This year, 161 team members, including Lisa Luiso, were awarded a total of $300,000 to their organizations. 

  

Wells Fargo team members are encouraged to nominate their co-workers or themselves to recognize the outstanding efforts of the volunteer and the nonprofit organization.  Winners are selected by an internal selection committee and they consider the team member’s personal commitment and dedication to the organization, effectiveness of their work, and the value of their work to their community. 

Wells Fargo makes it easy for team members to get involved through our online tool VolunteerWellsFargo! In 2007, Southern California team members used VolunteerWellsFargo! to report 2,865 volunteer hours – a dollar value of $53,776. They served as mentors, board members, project heads, fundraisers, educators and more. Wells Fargo also donated $2.5 million in 2007 to 597 nonprofits.
