ElderHelp Volunteers & Eligibility Requirements

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world; Indeed it is the only thing that ever has."
-Margaret Mead

Urgent Need for Volunteer Drivers!

Elderhelp-volunteerMake an impact in a senior’s life – become a Volunteer Driver! Caring, compassionate individuals needed right now to transport seniors safely to and from their medical appointments and other essential functions. Mileage reimbursement and incentives are available. Sign up now!

We invite you to join over 350 San Diego volunteers who assist homebound, needy and/or disabled seniors so they may remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible. Many are alone without families to help. By breaking this isolation, seniors in their later years experience a higher level of safety, security, and an increased sense of value within their community.

For just a few hours each week, volunteers can grocery shop for the homebound, visit with seniors, help with mail or bill paying, escort a senior needing assistance to their doctor or other important appointments, walk or care for the pets of seniors recovering from an injury or hospitalization or provide occasional handyman, moving or gardening assistance. Other volunteers provide important reception, clerical and computer support to office staff. See a complete and detailed list of all Volunteer Opportunities.
