Pledge FAQ’s

Why should I participate?

Funding for seniors in general is only 2% of all philanthropic giving making your pledge even more impactful and necessary.

Your participation in giving to ElderHelp will impact the many San Diego seniors that ElderHelp serves – your pledge will touch hundreds of lives.

The current economy had been especially tough on seniors who have to bear the brunt of reductions in government benefits and pensions. Soon there will be no increase in social security and there will be a reduction in many programs and services that low income seniors depend on. All while the cost of healthcare, home based services and utilities continues to rise.

This is our opportunity to give a hand up to the generation that has given us so much.

Where will the money go?

All pledge proceeds go to support ElderHelp’s programs and services.

What is the minimum pledge? What is the goal?

No pledge or gift is too small! There is no minimum or maximum a person can pledge. Our goal is to get more people in the community involved in our campaign.

When is my first pledge payment due? When do I have to pay money?

The first pledge payment is due when you submit your pledge form. Depending on your pledge frequency (monthly, quarterly or yearly) is when your next payment is due. Ask us about pledge reminders!

I don't want to pledge money. Can I make a donation/gift upfront now?

All gifts are greatly appreciated! The pledge form has a place to enter your gift amount. You may make your gift by writing a check to ElderHelp or use your American Express, Discover, Master Card, or Visa card. Because we are a 510(c)3, you may be able to deduct your gift amount on your federal and/or state taxes if you itemize.

I'm ready! How can I pledge?

A pledge form is available at the ElderHelp office or send an e-mail to Gretchen Veihl, for more information.

What happens if I don't want my name made known in connection with my gift?

Just “x” the line next to the question about making your gift anonymously. It is important to our organization that we honor your wishes regarding your gift acknowledgement.

Thank you for your support!
